CULTO Builders Days - When One Hall Isn’t Enough

How a two-day event brought together a main stage, mentoring, networking, 1:1 sessions, design and multiple communities under one roof.

CULTO Builders Days was never meant to be another conference where guests spend hours sitting in front of a single stage. The ambition was to create an experience lab for founders, investors, architects, designers and other people who build things — businesses, products, places and ideas.

At the same time, Builders Days introduced CULTO — a new concept in concrete furniture combining design, craftsmanship and an innovative approach to working with concrete.

A space where people could do more than listen. They could meet, exchange ideas, create, connect and start conversations that continued beyond the programme itself.

That required more than a conventional event hall. Event House Karlín became not just the venue for Builders Days, but part of the event concept itself.

The Challenge: How Do You Bring Different Types of Interaction Under One Roof?

There was no venue checklist at the beginning. There was a vision.

CULTO wanted to bring together the worlds of startups and business with architecture, design and craftsmanship.

At the same time, the programme had to work for very different audiences and give people more than one way to engage with the event.

One stage and a few rows of chairs simply wouldn’t do. Within a single event, the venue needed to accommodate:

  • keynote sessions and panel discussions,

  • mentoring and individual consultations,

  • smaller group meetings,

  • networking,

  • the presentation of CULTO’s new concrete furniture,

  • a live podcast,

  • side programming,

  • quiet spaces for longer conversations,

  • and different communities that would not normally meet in the same room.

Each part of the event needed its own atmosphere. But together, they still had to feel like one cohesive experience.

The Solution: One Venue, Multiple Environments

The flexible layout of Event House made it possible to build Builders Days around several distinct layers of activity.

Main event space for keynotes, talks and panel discussions.

Boardrooms and smaller meeting rooms for mentoring, 1:1 sessions and more focused conversations.

Podcast and content formats like a live Business Cast with Dan Tržil and Honza Hanuš, showing how the main event space could shift beyond traditional talks and panel discussions.

Showroom a dedicated part of the venue showcased CULTO’s new concrete furniture, together with the design thinking and innovative concrete technology behind the concept.

Networking and breakout zones where guests could step away from the main programme and continue conversations in smaller groups.

The result wasn’t one conference hall split into separate sections. It was an environment where participants could move through different experiences throughout the day. And choose how they wanted to take part.

The Space Started Shaping the Event

The capabilities of Event House were not added to an already finished concept. They helped shape it.

As the team began working with the venue in more detail, new possibilities emerged for how Builders Days could be structured.

At one moment, the space could host the main programme; at another, a live podcast. Alongside that, there was room for mentoring, smaller-group conversations and the presentation of CULTO’s concrete furniture. The different zones showed that the programme did not have to follow one linear format in one room.

The venue stopped being a backdrop. It became part of the event design.

What Happened Once the Venue Filled with People?

Some parts of an event can be planned down to the minute. Others only happen once people enter the space.

One of those moments emerged in a quieter part of Event House, where longer conversations between participants began to happen naturally. Not the typical three-minute exchange during a coffee break. But deeper discussions that had the time and space to continue.

The ability to move between shared sessions, smaller formats and more informal areas helped create exactly the kind of environment Builders Days was designed for. Bringing together people who would not normally meet — and giving them a reason to stay in the conversation.

Event House Was More Than a Venue

Two and a Half Months of Building It Together. CULTO created the first Builders Days with a small core team and within a highly intensive timeframe.

That meant WorkLounge’s role could not end with simply providing the space. Honza Malin and the Event House team became part of the preparation process — advising on how different areas could work, helping solve technical and operational requirements and translating the original vision into an event format that could work in practice.

That collaboration ultimately became one of the strongest parts of the entire experience.

“We Felt Like We Were One Team. When you rent a venue, every extra request can easily become a problem. Here, it was the opposite. We felt like we were all in it together as one team.”

More Than Venue Hire. A Partner in Your Event.

Technology. Setup. Guest flow. Last-minute changes. Operations. The small details that only appear once preparation is underway. For an organiser, each one can create another decision to make.

For us, they are part of the event. That is why Event House is not a space we simply hand over and leave you to figure out.

We first want to understand what your event needs to achieve. How people should move through it. Where they should listen, talk, connect or step away. And what they should leave with. Only then do we shape the space around that experience.

1 Event. 6 Ways to Experience It.

During Builders Days, Event House became several different environments, each designed around a different type of interaction.

What Did the First Edition Teach Us?

Builders Days was also a pilot. And that made it valuable not only as an event, but as a format to build on.

One of the key learnings was that an overly packed programme can take time away from one of the most important parts of an event: the conversations happening between sessions. Another was that networking does not always need more structure.

Sometimes, the better approach is to create the right environment and give people enough room to connect naturally.

The first Builders Days created more than a two-day event. They created a format that can continue to evolve.

A Space That Adapts to Your Event. Not the Other Way Around.

Conference. Workshop. Brand experience. Community event. Corporate gathering. Product launch. Networking. Podcast. Party. Or several of them in one day.

Event House Karlín offers flexible space for up to 250 guests, with layouts that can be adapted to the format and flow of your event.

And you do not need to arrive with every detail already figured out.

Bring us the idea.

Together, we will turn it into an event that works in the space — and for the people in it.
